Hi, I’m Jon, creator of Casual Movie Lover. My love for movies began when I was a kid growing up in the '90s. The earliest movie I remember watching was Jurassic Park, and it immediately sparked my imagination. From that moment on, I became a lifelong movie lover. Movies quickly became a form of escapism for me. I would often reimagine myself in different movie scenarios and spend hours daydreaming about alternate worlds and stories. With my West African heritage, storytelling is deeply embedded in our culture. We love imagining ourselves within stories, sharing them, and breathing life into them, so movies felt like a natural extension of that tradition. Eventually, I realized I needed an outlet to discuss and express my love for movies, which led me to create Casual Movie Lover. Here, you’ll find reviews, curated lists, articles, and much more. I also enjoy experimenting with AI to create reimaginings inspired by different movie genres. Today, I’m a proud member of the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA), where I’ve had the opportunity to connect with others who share the same passion.
