This show begins with an intriguing premise you’ve probably seen before, but the real hook is Jason Bateman starring and directing alongside Jude Law. It kicks off with a central event, then rewinds to unravel the chain of events leading up to the main robbery.
Unfortunately, the execution is frustrating. Not only are all the characters written as idiots, but just when you think the story couldn’t get any crazier, it does—descending into near-cartoon territory. The saving grace is Jude Law and Jason Bateman’s chemistry as brothers, which serves as the show’s driving force.
That said, this story would have worked far better as a movie rather than being stretched into a series. While there are moments of genuine suspense, thrills, and emotion, the frustrating characters left me rooting for no one. The narrative is cluttered with subplots that go nowhere, riddled with plot holes, and ultimately capped with a disappointing ending.
