Eternity is a charming romantic dramedy with a terrific cast and, surprisingly, one of the least “A24-feeling” movies in a while. You quickly grow attached to the characters—Miles Teller and Elizabeth Olsen’s chemistry is the heart of the film. Callum Turner is great, and Oscar-winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph is easily my favorite character.

The dialogue is witty, and the visuals strike a perfect balance of nostalgia, fantasy, and whimsy. The first two-thirds work beautifully—the buildup and character development are engaging, heartfelt, and full of laughs and emotional highs.

It’s the third act where things start to falter. When Joan faces her choice, the film leans into familiar love triangle tropes and stretches the narrative longer than necessary, ending on predictable character beats. Had it been wrapped up a bit earlier with a bolder finish, this could’ve been something truly special.

Still, Eternity remains a delightful, emotionally rich film—funny, tender, and thought-provoking, with a clever and perceptive take on love and the afterlife.
