Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire: Monster Mayhem at Its Most Absurd (and Fun)
MOVIE REVIEW

If you’re going into Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire expecting Shakespeare, you’re in the wrong theater. If you want pure, bombastic monster carnage where logic is optional and fun is mandatory, then congratulations—you’re going to have a blast.
This movie doesn’t even pretend to care about the human storylines anymore. It wisely steps back and lets the real stars — the giant monsters — take center stage. Godzilla, Kong, and their monstrous foes battle it out in increasingly ridiculous set pieces that seem ripped straight out of a big-budget video game. Buildings are smashed, oceans are torn apart, and physics is treated like a suggestion rather than a rule.
That said, the human characters remain a low point. They exist purely to spout exposition and give the audience breathers between monster fights. They’re neither interesting nor particularly likable, but thankfully, the movie knows this and doesn’t dwell on them much.
The action sequences are gleefully absurd, turning up the spectacle to eleven. At times, it becomes so over-the-top that you can’t help but laugh — but that's part of the charm. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is self-aware enough to embrace its own silliness, resulting in a movie that’s perfect for a mindless, popcorn-fueled night out.
