Tessa Thompson carries Hedda, delivering a magnetic performance that commands attention every time she’s on screen. As Hedda, she’s electric, layered, and captivating in a role. Unfortunately, while Thompson gives everything to the character, her performance alone isn’t enough to elevate a film that often struggles to keep its momentum.

Nina Hoss and Nicholas Pinnock are notable standouts as well, bringing depth and poise to their roles and sharing a strong on-screen presence that complements Thompson beautifully. The production values are impressive across the board: the costume design is meticulous, the set design feels immersive, and the lighting and cinematography create a distinct, moody atmosphere that fits the story’s tone.

The film is divided into four chapters, with Chapters 2 and 4 standing out as the most engaging. They contain the right amount of tension and emotional conflict that the rest of the movie could have used more of. Unfortunately, the pacing isn’t consistent—several scenes drag longer than necessary, and the narrative loses its rhythm as it progresses. By the time the ending arrives, it feels lackluster and unsatisfying, leaving you wanting more energy and focus.

Despite its strong performances and high production quality, Hedda ultimately feels uneven. Thompson shines brightly, but even her powerhouse performance can’t completely ignite a film that struggles to find its emotional spark.
