Netflix’s His & Hers starts off as a sleek, confidently made mystery, one that pulls you in with strong atmosphere and the promise of something deeper beneath the surface. Visually, the show is a standout. The cinematography is polished and moody, paired with a well-curated soundtrack that does a lot of heavy lifting in establishing tone and tension. From a purely technical standpoint, it’s easy to get invested early on.

The acting across the board is solid, grounding the story and helping sell the emotional stakes. Character relationships feel lived-in, and the central mystery is genuinely intriguing at first, unfolding at a measured pace that encourages viewers to pay attention and theorize. For much of its runtime, His & Hers feels like it knows exactly what kind of story it wants to tell.

Unfortunately, the series ultimately collapses under the weight of its own twist. What should have been a rewarding payoff instead arrives completely out of left field, making little narrative or emotional sense. Rather than recontextualizing earlier episodes in a clever way, the reveal actively undercuts much of the character development and relationship-building the show spent so much time establishing.

The result is an ending that feels deeply unsatisfying. The final stretch doesn’t enhance the mystery—it dismantles it, leaving the audience questioning not the story’s complexity, but its logic. His & Hers goes from a compelling slow-burn to a frustrating misfire, proving that even strong visuals, music, and performances can’t save a mystery that fumbles its conclusion.

It’s a show that had all the pieces in place, only to ruin the whole thing at the finish line.
