Jurassic World: Dominion: A Franchise Fossil Stuck in the Past

This has to be one of the laziest sequels I've ever seen. Jurassic World: Dominion had a real opportunity to do something new with the franchise, especially after teasing some interesting ideas in the previous movies. Dinosaurs roaming free across the world? That’s a premise loaded with potential! But instead of exploring it, the movie decided to coast entirely on nostalgia from the original Jurassic Park trilogy.
I lost count of how many shots, scenes, and musical cues were blatant recreations of iconic moments from the past. It got to the point where it was almost parody, and not in a good way. The story feels cobbled together, aimless, and uninterested in developing any new lore. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard seem completely disengaged; they walk through the movie without much enthusiasm. The return of the original cast—Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum—should have been exciting, but it felt forced and hollow, as if the filmmakers assumed that nostalgia alone would carry the film.
DeWanda Wise and Mamoudou Athie were the only bright spots; they brought a fresh energy that desperately highlighted how tired the rest of the movie felt. Even the action sequences lacked the tension and awe that defined the early films. This movie is a clear example of a franchise running on fumes, drained of creativity, passion, and any real reason to exist beyond box office numbers. A disappointing, soulless mess.
