I’m not sure how historically accurate this movie is, but it’s undeniably brilliant. The story is simple and direct, yet it explores morally challenging themes about the weight of leadership and what it means to be a king in the Middle Ages.
Every performance is top-tier. Timothée Chalamet has a magnetic presence on screen that makes his portrayal of King Henry incredibly compelling. The production design and cinematography bring the world to life, creating a gritty atmosphere that feels truly lived in.
The score by Nicholas Britell is fantastic, adding emotional weight to the film’s most pivotal moments. The pacing is also excellent, keeping you fully engaged from beginning to end.
The King is a historical epic that keeps things straightforward, allowing its powerful performances and immersive world-building to carry the story.
