Tron: Ares is the kind of movie you turn off your brain for and just enjoy the ride. It’s pure sensory overload in the best way possible—neon-soaked, pulse-pounding, and visually arresting from start to finish. As expected, the film’s strongest assets are its visuals and soundtrack. Every frame feels like a digital fever dream brought to life, especially during the action sequences within the Grid. These scenes are among the most exhilarating in the franchise, executed with kinetic precision and dazzling design.

The soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails injects raw energy into the film, amplifying the atmosphere with its pounding industrial beats and bombastic soundscapes. It’s an auditory experience that demands to be felt as much as heard, perfectly syncing with the film’s futuristic aesthetic. When the visuals and music merge, Tron: Ares becomes an immersive experience that practically begs to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

However, once the sensory rush fades, the film’s flaws become harder to ignore. Like its predecessors, Ares struggles with story and emotional depth. The characters are flat, their arcs predictable, and the performances—while competent—lack charisma. The movie also misses the sense of charm and emotional resonance that Tron: Legacy managed to capture, even if just slightly.

Still, it’s hard to deny the sheer spectacle on display. Tron: Ares might not move you emotionally, but it will absolutely overwhelm you visually and sonically. Watching it in IMAX 3D is hands-down the best way to experience it—an electrifying, immersive ride that reminds you why the Tron universe continues to endure, even when its storytelling falls short.
