I’m genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed this. It’s a refreshing take on a superhero within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Marvel might actually have something special on its hands—if they know what to do with it. Yahya Abdul-Mateen III fully embodies Simon Williams, and his chemistry with Ben Kingsley is a big reason this works as well as it does.
That said, not everything lands. Some episodes feel like filler, and a few storylines never quite give you something compelling to latch onto. There’s also a lot of teasing with not enough payoff early on. Wonder Man feels a bit like The Studio, but through a Marvel lens, which may resonate more with people familiar with the Hollywood industry.
While there isn’t much action overall, the second half of the series raises the stakes, and by the end, it becomes a solid binge. I’m genuinely excited by where this could go and hope to see this character return in the future.
