Zootopia 2 is bigger and more mature, and it even comes close to being better than its predecessor. The animation is gorgeous, and the stacked voice cast perfectly embodies these characters. There’s something genuinely soothing about hearing Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin as Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps—their chemistry is effortless, and they play off each other so well.

My new favorite character, though, is Nibbles. She’s a blast and easily gave me the most laughs in the movie.

What Zootopia 2 really excels at is expanding its world while continuing to explore relevant themes. I loved the nods to classic films and the way the story leans into an adventure/spy-thriller mystery vibe.

Overall, Zootopia 2 lands just shy of the original. The third act gets a bit repetitive and could’ve wrapped up sooner after the first twist. Still, it’s a movie both adults and kids can enjoy, and it leaves plenty of room for more stories in this universe—which I’m eagerly looking forward to.
